Buy British

Buy British

Why ?

Well I might go on and on regarding the quality standards that you will find with our items and probably would do with most UK made items, we are a proud bunch and take pride in what we make. You will have seen this a 100’s times before.

I could well point you to loads of sites where although the site does not openly  state the items are not British made, most will be from china and the rest of the far east ,  they will be and although they are not quite up to the standard of British gear to be honest some aren't bad.  With that think about the following  for a minute . The Uk furniture market  has a turnover of £10.3 billion pa which is around 2% of the country's GDP in which  130 thousand people work.  From the 2001 till 2008 the UK furniture production market flat lined, in terms of increase, and in 2008 when the recession really kicked  in it fell 22%. China are making the most of this flooding the UK with their  low end items, most at a  price to the importer far  lower than I could purchase the raw timber for. China and the other big names in the market will  only continue while there is demand for it and if the imbalance continues the Uk market could well fall even more or be shrunk so small that only the very high end would remain pushing most handcrafted items past the reach most customers. If it’s allowed to go on not only would we be losing the £10.3 billion but one of the 130 thousand  that work in the trade might have his eye set right  on your job! We must not allow it to happen, these skills have been handed from generation to generation and it would be a disaster if they were lost.
